Fun in the snow

On Sunday we had a killer time at the grocery store (as you can clearly see from the picture below) then spent a good portion of the afternoon playing in the snow at a local park.  We only yearned for our cross country skis for just a little bit.  Just a wee little bitWee.  Little.  Bit.

Truth?  Still wondering how to get the little guy fired up about getting his own set of skis.  I mean, surely there's a way.  Surely.

Night on the town

In mid-December we went out for a night on the town-- burgers and Christmas lights at the local historic hotel.  It was SO COLD that night without a trace of snow.  Solomon was into it for a few minutes, then wanted to find any and all candy canes in order to increase his sugar intake level by 10,000.  He got his wish shortly after these pictures were taken (thanks to the groups of people having their holiday parties inside).

Oh Christmas Tree

The first Saturday of December we went out to find our tree.  With hardly any snow we were able to hike around a bit.  As Jason went this way and that, Solomon took to eating bits and pieces of, ummm, nature?  First he started with the snow.  Then he moved on to branches.  Finally, upon Jason's return, he tried out nose (guess one has to get creative when one is bored).

Eventually the perfect tree was located and Jas taught Solomon how to cut 'er down.  Only took a few back-and-forth saw motions for a big ol' timmmmbeerrrr!

After so much hiking, so much eating, and so much sawing, Sol was tuckered out.  Jason carried our boy and I carried the tree- BECAUSE THAT'S HOW WE ROLL.

Thanksgiving 2012

We had a few friends up for Thanksgiving this year- no doubt that the time was chaotic, but boy did we all have fun!  Lots and lots of laughter, lots and lots of food, lots and lots of memories.  It was hard to narrow the pictures down, but I figure 20something should do it.

Lots of time was spent at the house, at the local park, walking around Aspen (the balloon artist was a hoot), and enjoying the Grand Illumination events (including Santa).  This was the first year Solomon ventured up to the man with the beard, bravely asking for curvy tracks to go along with his trains.

Other firsts?  Solomon showed us his drawing skills, making a person with arms, legs, eyes, and a smile.  We also made vegan pumpkin pie... ended up being pretty yucky, although I have high hopes for next year.
